QUESTION:
...how do plants help us to heal?
ANSWER by Amandha Dawn Vollmer:

.
I understand that you are curious about what my opinion is about how plants heal and that there is potentially more to the healing than a chemical or a physical one.
Concerning plant remedies or natural remedies that are from the Earth, a lot is from the perspective of where you are living, as well as the themes you see around you. As you work with plant medicine, it seems to open you up to more connection to the natural world and to that plant spirit.
I understand that there are layers to all things.
The plants heal the body through the constituents that they lend, and I know this because when I do extractions - which there are many methods - one being for example through an alcoholic extraction as a tincture, that will isolate one aspect of the plant and it will present itself with a display of results. And if I took the same plant material and extracted it with another method, say in a oil base, like an olive oil extraction, I would get another display of constituents. It could be similar it in its mode of action and its application. That means there are a variety of different aspects that synergistically or alchemically combine with whatever method you are using - you communicate with that medicine and with what your process is for accessing the knowledge inside the plant.
You can use these medicines to help the body help itself - that’s how I see it. You are listening to the wisdom of the body and you are trying to help it achieve its end goal. If the body has come to a rut and needs a helping hand, or has gone too far in one direction and you need to sort of temper it or shape it, then these medicines can be used to do so.
From another perspective, we have the plant spirit medicine approach, whereby we are seeing that plants will also have another layer to them: to help us access our inner gifts and our spiritual awareness, and our etheric healing. This is generally done through either a slight poisoning event actually, that alters the way that we are viewing our reality, to shake us out of our own rut, or to shift something fundamentally in the body, to release some locked-up emotion, or a trauma that’s being held in the body. To give a new sensation, if that person is trapped in a certain emotional paradigm. A lot of psychedelics would fall into that category for example, like the mushroom family, psylocibin, and Ayahuasca. These sorts of things that help us come into a different level of consciousness: of conscious awareness.
There is also communing with plants, meditating with plants, sitting or forest bathing with plants - where your energy field is communing, interloping with theirs, and you can play with that, you can ask for information to be shared in your dreams or just through your higher mind, about the plant or the plants’ qualities.
In fact, I really feel that we have fallen and we have lost a lot of our extra-sensory gifts, and that we once had those gifts and we were able to access knowledge of life much easier than we do today. That we were able to communicate more subtly, with subtle frecuencies and energies, and that everything has a frecuency, a subset of rise-and-fall and a speed, with energy that is emanating - and those plants are no different, they have their fields, their vibration, and we can utilize remedies from that perspective, thinking of it as a recharge to the system, as electricity, as energy, as a battery recharge, and that can be done with physical involvment with the medicine, or not. It could be just having a harmonic resonance with the plant. It could be just harvesting the plant, or touching the plant, or bathing in it where you’ve put the plant material in your bath.
And how would we even know how to use the medicine in the first place if we weren’t able to communicate in a higher level, way back when? Because we certainly didn’t have the type of laboratories and methods that we have today. I think we would really have not even needed these things, because we were far more sophisticated and we could understand the outcomes and how things worked, by tapping inside of ourselves, and accessing that inner knowledge and having a whole different relationship with our reality, which is sad that we’ve lost. Perhaps we needed to lose it to find it again and to realize what a gift it is. If you’ve lost some sort of sensation, or took it for granted in some way, then that’s why this had to happen, I’m sure.
This is my understanding, and I hope that that helps and answers your question to some degree. Plants are incredible and they are prolific and they are abundant. They are creative in their expression, and they provide every need to us. We should honour the plant kingdom in that way.
One of the things my professor Anthony Godfrey taught me on one of our herb walks, our wild walks, is that: to pay attention each season what comes up in the Spring, in the Summer, what blooms early, what blooms late, and it will show you a lot about this world. The plant kingdom will tell you about the weather but it will also tell you about our needs. He would say that in the Spring, when you see the Dandelion come up, that means you need the Dandelion because now is the time for Spring cleaning. It’s time to clean your liver, and that’s what Dandelion will do for you. If you listen and accept the offering of nature, you will be in harmony with nature, and therefore you will be out of the chaotic, frenetic energy - meaning, when you have two frecuency sets that are not matching, it will create chaos fields. If you are not listening, then you are missing opportunities but you are also creating this chaos. And, when you see something come up in exceptional abundance, then pay attention, this means maybe we need this particular plant right now because we’ve been exposed to a specific toxin and this is the remedy.
What this means is, there is consciousness happening where the remedy is showing itself to those who need it, and this will be geographically unique. Anthony said: always take the medicine that is offered, because it will be unique to what is needed at this time and at this place, and I’ve always done this since I’ve learnt that from him. And it’s true, you will see a variety of amounts of different plants at the times that they are supposed to come up, you will see bumper crops of other things that you might have not seen in years, and these trends are not just because it was dry or wet, of course you can explain it away in this light, but I feel that it’s more that this, because the pattern shows that the medicine available matches with a lot of the symptom expression, as far as a practicionner would see in trends, so you can match the way that nature shows itself to your disease trends, of that given season. Any practicionner who really studies nature will make this connection. That’s why the great herbalists of our time might think we have very much lost a lot of this knowledge already from even our own elders. If you listen to nature properly then you will have all the information you need - about how this place works, about our bodies work, about how health works, about how to stay in homeostasis and about what’s coming, so that you can prepare and be more structured when the changes come.

PREGUNTA
